How do you get your child to eat enough protein?

Most adults fuss over how much protein they eat, but what about kids? Check out if your little one is getting the protein they need to grow strong and smart.

So, is your kiddo eating enough protein? The short answer is: they probably are. If you're feeding them a balanced diet, they’re most likely fulfilling their daily protein intake.

In fact, they don’t really need as much protein as some people think. When they have stopped breastfeeding, kids 2-4 years old only need 2 portions of protein per day. That might sound like a lot, but those two portions can be an egg and half a cup of milk, 2 ounces of chicken and a ¼ cup of beans, or 1 tablespoon of nut butter, half a slice of whole grain bread and half a cup of milk. As you can see, it’s very possible you’re already feeding your kid like this.

Of course, it’s always good to be mindful of our children’s diets, especially if we’re dealing with a picky eater. Things can get more complicated if your family or your kid don’t eat dairy or are vegan, but there are always some good options for you to choose from. Check out today's infographic to find out ways you can incorporate the right amount of protein in your child's diet.
